Supporting new talent across public sector procurement

The Procurement People of Tomorrow (PPoT) programme was launched to address a recognised skills gap in both private and public sectors with a history of challenges across industry in attracting, recruiting and retaining talent. This is an opportunity to leave a sustainable legacy for the procurement profession in Scotland by working together to grow our own talent and support youth employment.

The Scottish Government is working in partnership with both private and public sector stakeholders such as Skills Development Scotland, the City of Glasgow College and the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).

Through this programme we are:

  • engaging with schools, colleges, universities and careers advisers to raise the profile of procurement and supply chain as a career choice;
  • developing and supporting a wide variety of vocational and academic pathways into the profession including modern apprenticeships, HND and degree programmes;
  • engaging with industry to build a pipeline of opportunities for young people via modern apprentice, student, graduate, intern and secondment placements.
